Building a quiet assistant with a small team
Our principles for deliberate software craftsmanship, compact models, and calm user experiences.

Systems Architecture & On-Device ML
Large consumer technology companies often measure success by total daily active minutes and notification engagement rates. This incentivizes architectures designed to interrupt users frequently and maximize time spent staring at screens.
Dimlit was founded on the opposite premise: software should perform its job quietly, answer when spoken to, and step aside immediately. Building as a small, independent team allows us to prioritize user calm over engagement metrics.
Deliberate engineering constraints
Working with limited team size forces intentional technical choices that directly benefit users:
- No server farms: By running models on-device, we eliminate cloud hosting overhead and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
- Static marketing interfaces: Our web presence uses clean static generation with minimal JavaScript, ensuring fast initial page loads.
- Zero tracking dependencies: We do not embed behavioral analytics or third-party tracking scripts into the product.
These constraints guide our product direction toward durable, minimalist tools that respect human attention.
